Paws 4 Connection
Relational attunement with the animal.
Your clients may leave with insight, coping skills, and a discharge plan.
But many of them go home to the relationship they rely on every single day:
their pet.
Paws 4 Wellness gives treatment centers a new way to support emotional regulation, resilience, connection, and continued practice through the human-animal bond.
Built by licensed clinical social worker, author, and HeartMath® Certified Trainer Jennifer Bronsnick, MSW, LCSW, Paws 4 Wellness brings together workshops, guided practices, the Paws 4 Wellness app, and the Pet Medicine Method©.
Interested in exploring what this could look like for your clients, alumni, or staff?
The Pet Medicine Method© gives people structured ways to intentionally use the human-animal bond as part of everyday emotional wellness.
It is delivered through the 5 Paws Framework©:
Relational attunement with the animal.
Gentle somatic movement and body awareness.
Meditation using the human-animal bond as an anchor.
EFT-based emotional processing and integration.
Self-inquiry that helps people notice patterns, meaning, and what they need.
Together, the practices give people multiple ways back into the body, relationship, awareness, and regulation.
Most treatment centers already teach clients some version of this:
Notice what is happening.
Regulate the body.
Build emotional awareness.
Practice healthier responses.
Strengthen supportive relationships.
Create routines that can survive outside the treatment setting.
Pet Medicine does not replace that work.
It gives clients another place to practice it.And importantly, it connects the practice to a relationship many clients are deeply motivated to protect.
For someone who struggles to meditate for ten minutes, sitting beside their dog may feel possible.
For someone resistant to “self-care,” taking their pet outside may already be happening.
For someone who feels disconnected from people, connection with an animal may be a much easier doorway into safety and presence.
That distinction matters.
The animal is not treated as a mental-health tool or a furry therapist.
The relationship itself becomes the place where the person practices.
Paws 4 Wellness was built around the belief that pets can be meaningful partners in emotional well-being while still respecting the animal, the client, and the role of licensed treatment.
This does not have to look the same at every treatment center.
That is why I would rather start with a conversation than hand you a predetermined package.
Possible collaborations include:
Interactive Pet Medicine workshops focused on emotional regulation, resilience, connection, and practical skills clients can continue using after discharge.
My signature experience, Return to Coherence, guides participants through connection, movement, mindfulness, tapping, and reflection in an experiential format.
Give clients an accessible practice they can continue when the structure of treatment disappears.
The Paws 4 Wellness app offers guided practices people can use at home, including meditation, tapping, movement, reflection, and structured Pet Medicine experiences.
That means the relationship with their animal can become part of a repeatable post-treatment wellness routine rather than something they only benefit from accidentally.
Offer educational groups centered around resilience, self-awareness, stress, the human-animal bond, and the 5 Paws.
These can be developed for residential clients, outpatient clients, alumni, families, or specific populations.
Treatment professionals spend their days helping other nervous systems.
They need support too.
Pet Medicine workshops can be adapted for staff resilience, emotional regulation, burnout prevention, connection, and practical stress recovery.
Jennifer's book, My Pet Is Better Than Your Therapist, can be incorporated into alumni programming, workshops, reading groups, or client education alongside experiential Pet Medicine practices.
Some organizations may want a workshop.
Others may want app access for alumni.
Others may want an ongoing Pet Medicine group, staff programming, a speaker event, or something we have not designed yet.
That is the interesting part.
Jennifer Bronsnick is a licensed clinical social worker, author, integrative health coach, HeartMath® Certified Trainer, and founder of Paws 4 Wellness.
She has spent more than 20 years working in mental health and five years conducting ESA evaluations with thousands of clients.
Her work combines clinical experience, nervous-system education, the human-animal bond, EFT Tapping, HeartMath, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and practical emotional resilience.
She is the author of My Pet Is Better Than Your Therapist and creator of the Paws 4 Wellness app and Pet Medicine Method©.
But the simplest description may be this:
She teaches people how to intentionally use a relationship that is already helping them.
Discharge is a strange moment.
People leave an environment where support may have been available around the clock and return to regular life.
The schedule changes.
The clinicians change.
The community changes.
The dog waiting at the door does not.
The cat curling up beside them does not.
The relationship comes home with them.
What if we taught people how to use that relationship more intentionally?
Not instead of treatment.
Not instead of therapy.
Alongside everything they have already learned.
I am not interested in forcing the same program into every treatment environment.
I want to understand:
Who do you serve?
Where do clients tend to struggle?
What happens after discharge?
How are you currently supporting alumni?
How much does the human-animal bond already show up in your clients’ stories?
And is there a place where Pet Medicine could add something genuinely useful?
30 minutes.
Come tell me about your program.
I’ll tell you what I’ve built.
And we’ll see if there is something worth creating together.
